Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Metalissime Collection returns for Chinese New Year in a special set!

Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Metalissime Collection review and swatches

Hello, heart palpations. I first saw the Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Metalissime Collection last October when it was being introduced for the holiday season. It quickly sold out, of course, but I am so excited to be one of the first to let you know that this beautiful red and gold collection is coming back as a set for Chinese New Year, exclusively at Holt Renfrew Vancouver!

Priced at C$305, it includes all three products from the collection, all adorned in the limited edition metallic red packaging – Rouge Louboutin Metalissime Silky Satin Lip Color (normally C$120), Rouge Louboutin Metalissime Loubilaque Lip Lacquer (normally C$120), and Rouge Louboutin Metalissime Nail Color (normally C$65) – plus a chic limited edition metallic finished Shopeaks clutch (photo above provided by Louboutin Beauty PR).

I’ve previously reviewed the Louboutin Silky Satin Lip Color in Belly Bloom, and was super impressed by the opacity, wear time, and finish on my lips. The Metalissime Silky Satin Lipstick is equally, if not more impressive. It feels super lightweight on the lips, delivering a thin veil of colour that is still mostly opaque without any of the weight. My lips look plumper, and my lip lines are also smoothed. The Metalissime shade is a beautiful red-gold blend that is absolute perfection for the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities. I love how weighty the tube is as well, it’s made of metal and feels very substantial and luxurious in the tube with the red and gold packaging.

It was my first time trying out the Loubilaque Lip Lacquer (C$120), and I’m happy to have gotten it in the shade Metalissime. This is my favourite product in the collection, it just applies so beautifully with the most gorgeous colour saturation and finish. The Loubilaque is similar to a glossy liquid lipstick, with a completely opaque finish and a super high shine glossy lacquer finish. It’s not super heavy either, making it perfect for people who normally don’t love gloss (such as me…). Wear time is fantastic – it keeps its high shine finish for about 4 hours, through light drinking. After the glossy finish wears off, there is a bit of a red-gold stain that is left behind which wears for another few hours.  The pointed doe foot applicator does an amazing job at precise application, giving me super full lips that glisten with the light.

Lastly, we have the Metalissime Nail Color. Again it’s my first time trying Louboutin Nail Color, and I remember it being all the rage when it first came out. The applicator made this super easy to apply, and the metallic finish polish formula was super smooth. For the high price tag though, I’m not super impressed with the formula – even after nearly 3 hours of dry time, I went to bed and I still woke up with some bed wrinkles on my nails. It also isn’t the most glossy of polishes on its own, and definitely needs a high gloss top coat. After 24 hours of wear, there is already minor chipping at the tips, which is a bit disappointing for such an expensive polish.

The Louboutin Metalissim collection is available now exclusively as a beautiful set at Holt Renfrew Vancouver. I really love the Loubilaque and the Silky Satin Lipstick in the shades Metalissime, and I feel like it would make a fantastic Valentine’s Day gift for your loved one. The red and gold is so appropriate for Chinese New Year as well as any festive environment, such as Christmas, anniversaries, or New Years. Pick up yours now because they are sure to go quickly!

Review + swatches – Christian Louboutin Beaute Silky Satin Lip Colour, Lip Definer, and Lash Amplifying Lacquer Mascara

Review and swatches of Christian Louboutin Beaute Silky Satin Lip Colour in Belly Bloom, Lip Definer in Nats, and Lash Amplifying Lacquer Mascara in Kohl

I am always reviewing luxury brands and high end makeup on my blog, but today I have something I never thought I would ever get to try out just because the price tag is so astronomical for a makeup product. Yes I am talking about Christian Louboutin Beaute, a brand that has lipsticks that are double the price of Tom Ford, another ultra high end luxury brand.

I’ve always admired Christian Louboutin shoes, having his Simple pumps on my wishlist for the last 5 years. When the brand first came out with beauty product, I didn’t even bother looking because the price tag was just so out of reach and I didn’t want to fall in love with anything in fear of starting a new addiction. Well when I was invited to the Louboutin fragrance event a few weeks ago, I got to try out some of the makeup and yes, I fell hard for the products. At the event, I had the Sheer Voile Lip Colour applied on me over a Lip Definer, and for a sheer glossy lipstick, it lasted over 8 hours on me with no touchups required. It was incredible. I was lucky to be sent home from the event with the Lash Amplifying Lacquer Mascara, and then later sent the Silky Satin Lip Colour and Lip Definer for review purposes. Honestly if you are on a budget, or have any kind of makeup budget, you should just stop reading. If you love to splurge on makeup and love to treat yourself, then keep reading.

Let’s first talk about the packaging. The lipsticks, mascaras, glosses, and liquid eye liners come in this incredibly beautiful and super luxurious box that can be used to display the product. I do not see myself throwing these boxes away because they are like jewelry boxes. The boxes themselves are very well made, and definitely reflect the designer nature of the brand.

The product themselves also come in very hefty packaging, specifically the lipstick and mascara tubes are metal and feel very substantial. The lipstick comes in a solid black metal body, like a precious elixir vial, which twists up to reveal the lipstick. Everything is like a work of art that can be displayed after application.

The Silky Satin Lip Colour (C$120) is Louboutin’s classic satin finish lipstick. The shade I have is Belly Bloom, a beautiful nude rose pink. The formula is super creamy, and feels lightweight and comfortable on the lips. It’s also lightly hydrating, which is fantastic for people like me who have perpetually dry lips. It gives me medium to full coverage in 1-2 swipes, and wears for over 8 hours on me when layered over the Lip Definer. Alone, wear time is still around 6-8 hours with drinking and light eating, which is pretty impressive for a creamy lipstick. I’m scared to say it but I really think this ranks in one of my top 5 favourite lipstick formulas. What I don’t love is the price tag… it’s $120 which is really out there, even for me. But I do love to spoil myself, and having one or two of these in my collection doesn’t seem too terrible, right?

Louboutin’s Lip Definers (C$55) are created to match the natural shade of your lips, so that you can use the one lip liner with any lipstick. The shade I have is Nats, which is a matte rosewood that is a tinge more brown than my natural lip colour but works well to create a neutral base for lipstick. I love how long wearing the Lip Definers are, and it also makes any colour apply smoother and more vibrantly. I also love the self-sharpening twist-up tip. I am super lazy and hate sharpening pencil products so this is perfect for me. What I don’t love is that it is a little bit dry to apply and it’s also slightly drying on the lips; it’s not waxy so it doesn’t glide on as easily as other waxy lip pencils. That being said, it not being waxy means that it doesn’t slide off as quickly, giving it its long-wearing properties. I definitely need to use a lip balm before applying this because it does accentuate my dry lip lines.

Lastly, the only thing I like but don’t love is the Lash Amplifying Lacquer Mascara (C$90). For a volumizing mascara, the applicator isn’t huge. It also has little short plastic spikes that help to coat every lash. I like this because it is insanely black, one of the blackest mascaras I’ve ever used. It also dries soft, and doesn’t leave my lashes feeling crunchy. It lengthens and volumizes, and doesn’t become cakey as you build up. I don’t like it because it does not hold a curl very well, and it also smudges on the undereye after a few hours. Those are my two must-have attributes in a mascara, and this one doesn’t live up to those requirements. I can prevent smudging and transfer by using the Clarins Double Double Fix mascara topper, but it doesn’t help the curl situation. If you have naturally super curly lashes, you will LOVE this mascara, but if you have stick straight Asian lashes like mine, you might want to look elsewhere.

Do you need any of this? Truthfully, no. But like I said earlier, if you have some money to spare and want to treat yourself (the holidays are a time of giving, including giving to yourself!), this would make a great treat. If you had to pick up one thing, definitely go for a lipstick. The formula is beautiful and there are also so many colours to choose from. You can’t go wrong with it!

Drape your skin in the ultimate luxury fragrances by Christian Louboutin

Christian Louboutin Beaute has been one of those “look but don’t touch” brands for me. Ever since their release a few years ago, I’ve never researched too deeply into the products in fear of falling love with any of them because of the high price tag. The brand started with a launch of nail products, then lip products, and have now expanded into eyeliners, brow products, and mascara. Unknown to me was that they had also launched a collection of fragrances, and a few weeks ago I was invited to the Christian Louboutin Beaute counter at Holt Renfrew Vancouver to experience these scents.

These fragrances were created by Christian to depict specific visions of different women:

  • Tournade Blonde – a glamourous scent for the red lipstick-wearing diva, think Marilyn Monroe. It contains notes of Rhubarb, Violet Leaves, Ambrette Signature, Cassis, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmin Sambac Absolut, Orange Flower Petals Firnat, Gardenia from Brazil, Ambregris, Cedarwood, Australian Sandalwood, and Patchouli.
  • Bikini Questra Sera – a warm floral for the free spirited woman, lounging on the beach or in a villa. It contains notes of Paradisone, Green Nectars, Jasmin Absolut, Tuberose Absolut, Australian Sandalwood, Vetiver Haiti, and Ambregris.
  • Trouble in Heaven – a sultry, seductive, and smokey scent that represents the sexy woman who is fierce and not afraid to get what she wants. It contains notes of Bergamot, Cascalone, Rose Bouton, Iris Firabs, Amber, Patchouli, Tonka Absolut, and Labdanum.

I was asked to smell each of these, and pick the one that resonated the most with me. I normally don’t like rich, heavy scents (I generally prefer lighter, more airy scents), but all of these smelled SO GOOD. I love florals, and Tournade Blonde and Bikini Questra Sera were both florals, rose and jasmine, respectively. In the end being the rose lover that I am, I picked the Tournade Blonde.

Tournade Blonde is one of the most complex rose fragrances I’ve ever owned or smelled. The combination of rose, cassis, violet, and gardenia create a beautiful, rich scent that has multiple layers. Like a real rose, you peel back the outer petals to reveal a softer inner core. I love wearing this, it makes me feel ultra glamourous, sexy, and confident. Because it is on the richer side, I feel like it’s more appropriate as a night-time fragrance, but I can wear this to a date-night, girls night out, or any evening occasion. Paired with a pair of heels, preferably Christian Louboutin, it makes me feel unstoppable. These fragrances are expensive, but you rarely have to reapply because wear time is very good; it is a parfum after all.

Christian Louboutin fragrances are available in parfums, priced at C$185 for 30mL or C$375 for 80mL, as well as perfume oils priced at C$415 for 30mL. The perfume oils are probably one of the most decadent and sensual beauty products I’ve ever laid eyes on. You can find all of these products at Holt Renfrew Vancouver.
