NEW TATCHA Luminous reviews – Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate & Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum

Tatcha Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate and Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum review

One of my favourite skincare brands is TATCHA. I’ve previously reviewed several of their products, and I’m a big fan of the Japanese skincare philosophy and aesthetic, combined with the R&D capabilities of modern skincare. This January, TATCHA introduced two new products to their Luminous range – the Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate and the Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum.

TATCHA Luminous Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate

Tatcha Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate review

The Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate (US$110) is gel-based night-time serum aimed at hydrating and replenish the skin, as well as reduce the look of fine lines. It contains a concentrated formula of Okinawa Red Algae, Wild Thyme, Ginseng, and Squalane. It also contains sweet marjoram extract (skin conditioner), jujube (red date) extract (anti-baterial, anti-irritant), royal jelly extract (stimates cellular renewal and collagen production), licorice (anti-inflammatory), green tea extract (anti-oxidant), and other great ingredients for the skin.

The gel serum is pretty neat to play with – it’s a “memory serum” because the product will smooth over in the jar overnight. The texture of this serum is extremely lightweight and melts immediately into the skin, but feels extremely hydrating. I wake up with very rejuvenated, plumped up skin that is perfectly prepped for makeup application. I normally use this about 2-3 times a week, or whenever I feel like my skin needs that extra dose of moisture.

The main downside is that it is quite sticky, so I wouldn’t be able to use it during the day (say if I’m feeling particularly dry on a morning). It does take a while to sink in fully, but the morning-after effect is quite nice.

The Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum (US$95) is TATCHA’s first eye serum aimed to firm, reduce puffiness, and plump up the skin with hydration. It contains a cooling ceramic applicator that helps to distribute the product and massage the eye area while providing an instant, cooling sensation. I love this applicator because I can be gentler with my eye area while continue to deliver maximum product efficacy. This serum contains Okinawa Red Algae, green tea extract, squalane, as well as real 23-karat gold for instant radiance.

Out of all the Tatcha products I’ve used, this is probably one of my least favourites. Maybe I’m using it wrong, but I just felt that it didn’t give me very much hydration. My eye area is quite dry so I need something that’s hydrating yet not greasy, and this product, while lightweight, just doesn’t pack enough punch to leave my eye area looking or feeling fresh. I really love the ceramic applicator though, so I would love to be able to pipe in another eye cream to use with the applicator. If you have very dry undereyes like me, you may need an additional eye cream on top.
