Gadget review: Emjoi Micro Nail nail buffing, smoothing, and shining tool

Emjoi Micro Nail review

The Emjoi Micro Nail is a super convenient tool that buffs, smooths, and shines your nail beds. I’ve been playing with this for a few months now and I’ve consistently been wowed by the outcome each time I use it. Powered by AA batteries, it comes with two different textured rollers that buffs and smooths your nail bed to either keep them looking shiny and new, or to prepare a smooth surface for polish.

It is extremely easy to use, just turn it on, lightly press the moving buffer roller (the grey one) against your nail bed, and let it do its magic for about 2 seconds on every millimetre surface of your nail, switch to the smoothing roller (the white one), repeat the process, and you’re done. The only thing I have found challenging was that because the rollers were moving very fast, it was hard to keep it still on the nail without it attempting to roll off or roll onto my cuticles. While any buffing taking place on my cuticles wasn’t painful, it wasn’t exactly the most pleasant of feelings.

All in all, I really like this device and what it can do. Taking into consideration the price though, it’s quite expensive for what a $3 buffer from the drugstore nail aisle can also do. The time savings with the device compared to buffing manually isn’t significant, so at the end of the day, I wouldn’t repurchase this.

The Emjoi Micro Nail comes in a kit with two replacement Smooth Roller buffer heads, two replacement Shine Roller smoothing heads, 2 AA batteries, instructions manual, and a drawstring bag to keep everything together. It is priced at $59.99 at regular price and is available online and at Shoppers Drug Mart.
