Review: KORRES Japanese Rose Shower Gel and Jasmine Body Butter

Korres Shower Gel and Body Butter review

Today I’m reviewing two of Korres’ most popular products – the Body Wash and the Body Butter. Korres is a Greek brand that creates products using natural and organic skincare ingredients. The ingredients list also lists out common allergens and whether or not this product has that allergen in it, making it perfect for those who are sensitive to specific ingredients.

Korres Japanese Rose Shower Gel

Korres Shower Gel (C$22) is one of Korres’ popular products. The Japanese Rose scent is light, feminine and never heavy or too “old lady-like.” The texture is like a thick gel, and it glides onto the skin really easily if you don’t use a loofah, and with a loofah it suds up moderately well. My skin is left clean, never stripped, and comfortable. It comes in a 400mL bottle which is no bad for the price, especially a mid-end product. I have no complaints about this body wash, it works well and does what it’s supposed to do, at a reasonable price. It’s also available in a plethora of scents with matching Body Butters.

Would I repurchase? Likely, to try the other scents.

Korres Jasmine Body Butter

Korres’ most popular body care product is their Body Butter (C$33). The Jasmine scent is wonderful but slightly synthetic; the scent dissipates quickly though, for those who are more sensitive to fragrances. This body Butter is rich, creamy, and slightly dry when applied on the skin. It leaves a white cast upon first application that needs to be massaged profusely into the skin, and takes a minute or two to fully absorb. It absorbs completely and doesn’t leave any residue or leftover cream on the skin’s surface.

In terms of its moisture level, I’d have to say it’s about a 7/10, as it is not as moisturizing as other body butters or lotions I’ve tried (such as from the Body Shop or Fruits & Passion), but it is moisturizing enough for daily winter use. Despite this, I would probably not repurchase because I really don’t think it’s good enough to warrant the price. It works, but it doesn’t work well enough and you can likely find substitute products that aren’t so high maintenance (regarding the white cast), are more moisturizing, and better value in terms of price. As it is available in a wide selection of scents, it might be worthwhile to purchase if you are particularly attached to a scent.

Would I repurchase? Probably not.
