To celebrate that launch, today I’m showing you the Charlotte Tilbury The Sophisticate look. This is one of Charlotte’s more natural, daytime looks. Charlotte says her inspirations came from classic beauties such as Audrey Hepburn and modern day role stars such as Natalie Portland. I previously also recreated Charlotte’s The Bombshell Look, which was inspired by iconic divas such as Marilyn Monroe. Read until the end to see swatches and also see my top picks from the entire range.
The Sophisticate set (C$275) comes with everything you need to create this look:
- LUXURY PALETTE – The Sophisticate (Eyeshadow)
- THE CLASSIC – Audrey (Eye Liner)
- FULL FAT LASHES – Glossy Black (Mascara)
- CHEEK TO CHIC – Sex On Fire (Blusher)
- LIP CHEAT – Pillowtalk (Lip Liner)
- K.I.S.S.I.N.G – Hepburn Honey (Lipstick)
- LIP LUSTRE – High Society (Lip Gloss)
The highlight of this kit are the Luxury Palette in the Sophisticate, which is the only all-matte palette released in Charlotte’s collection, and the beautiful Cheek to Chic blusher in Sex on Fire. Charlotte’s palettes are all colour coordinated to create a desk to dusk, to disco look – from the top left corner in a clockwise direction we have the prime, enhance, smoke, and pop shades, with the top two shades being the desk shades (most daytime appropriate), right two shades being the dusk shades (for after work drinks or events), and adding the bottom two to create the disco look (for those nights out). Having everything in one palette is extremely versatile and very foolproof, so that you can create the best looks to suit any occasion, and taking around just one palette.
The prime shade (top left) is used as an all over base that’s sweeped across your entire eyelid. In the Sophisticate, the prime shade is a beautiful beige-ivory that would work great as a brow bone highlighter as well. This was the most powdery of the four eyeshadows, but still felt incredibly creamy and smooth for a powder eyeshadow. The enhance shade is used to accent the contours of the eyes, including to darken the eye socket to create more depth. It’s a yellow-beige brown in the Sophisticate set, and is also incredibly smooth, as is the smoke shade, which is a rich brown. Lastly, the pop shade is a tawny brown that’s great to add a bit more colour and dimension to the eyes. The pop shade was the driest of the four shades, and dragged a little bit when used or swatched on the skin.
The Classic Eye Liner in Audrey is a deep brown pencil liner. It’s one of the more creamy pencil liners I’ve used, and it doesn’t drag when applying on the eyes. It’s also very pigmented in that one or two swipes is enough to get rich colour. In terms of lasting power, it actually lasts a few hours on my eyes smudge-free, which is impressive because my lids get oily very quickly. Sex on Fire was reviewed in my previous post here and has quickly become one of my go-to blushers for that incredible glow. Full Fat Lashes was also previously reviewed, so please take a look at my review on the Bombshell look for more info.
One of the products I was most excited for was the Lip Cheat lip liner in Pillowtalk. This is Charlotte’s go-to lip liner to create a fuller lip, as the colour matches very closely to the colour of lips and also helps to even out the natural lip colour. Pillowtalk is a beautiful nude pink colour that looks great layered under any nude lipstick. I’ve been wearing mine under Charlotte’s K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipstick in Bitch Perfect or Hepburn Honey and it looks great when worn with both. You can also wear the lip liner with a gloss on top as well (such as the High Society one included in this kit). The texture of Lip Cheat lip liner is incredibly soft and creamy, and also helps your lip products last longer.
The K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipstick in Hepburn Honey is a beige-toned nude lipstick. It’s more yellow-toned compared to Bitch Perfect, which is pink toned. The lipstick case that I received was broken and the bullet wouldn’t turn, so I have to apply this with a lip brush. As with my other Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, I’m super in love with that creamy formula. Lastly the Lip Lustre lip gloss in High Society is a pretty rose-nude lip gloss. It’s quite pigmented for a nude lip gloss, and the texture is relatively lightweight.
Bottom line: I’m SO in love with all of Charlotte’s products. The hype is real – they just work beautifully on my skin creating that everlasting glow. Everything is user friendly and foolproof, so anyone can create a gorgeous look for any occasion. With 10 different looks to choose from to suit any personality type and mood, you know you’ll fine the one (or two, or three, or moar) that works perfectly for you.

Sheila’s Charlotte Tilbury top picks
To help guide purchasing decisions, I’ve put together my top picks in the Charlotte Tilbury collection that I think everyone should own (EVERYONE!!!):
- Filmstar Bronze and Glow – to be reviewed soon, this just creates the most incredible glow that can be used both as a subtle contour and as a bronzer, plus highlight.
- Swish & Pop Blush in Sex on Fire – reviewed here and swatched above, is a beautiful rosy pink cheek colour that works amazingly on any complexion.
- K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick – absolutely love Charlotte’s lipstick formula, it’s super creamy, pigmented in just one swipe, and feels incredibly comfortable on the lips. I have So Marilyn (bright red, reviewed here), Bitch Perfect, and Hepburn Honey (above), all of which I love and wear on a regular basis.
- Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillowtalk – the perfume nude lip liner to use underneath your favourite nude lipstick, it’s so creamy and not drying at all.
