Review: Dior Gel de Lait Magique Demaquillant

I received a 50mL mini bottle of Dior’s new cleansing gel, the “Gel de Lait Magique” in a gift with purchase a few months ago. Since it was so small, I thought that it would be perfect to take on my travels as it claims to be a makeup remover at the same time.

What they claim (from Sephora.com):
Treat your skin to the backstage secret of runway models. Enriched with radiance-boosting white tea, this unique cleanser and toner in one leaves your skin clean, refreshed and glowing. Ideal for all skin types.

First, lets just say that this product does NOT cleanse, at all. I was so disappointed in this because it was advertised as a makeup remover as well, and I didn’t use it to remove any makeup, but it still didn’t do the basic job of just cleansing *sniffles*. It smells great, some kind of light floral scent that is quite refreshing and calming, but after you wash your face with it, it leaves this greasy film all over your face. That is a total let-down.

Also, when I tried to remove some lip gloss that had shimmer in it, the shimmer had gotten all over my face after I got out of the shower. It just stuck there. That has never happened to me before with any other cleanser, especially one that was supposed to be a makeup remover.

I would NOT recommend this to anyone, unless they are my worst enemies. But even then, I probably wouldn’t recommend this to them because it is just really bad. Did I mention it made me break out? Yeah, I have a budding pimple on my right cheek.

(ingredients list)

My score? For being mild, but it is still a total sigh. I don’t know what I’m going to do with the rest of the bottle…

Because of this, I went to ASDA (like Wal-mart) on Monday and bought another cleanser. I just pulled the cheapest foaming one off the shelf. I tried it yesterday and so far it has been okay, somewhat drying, but better than this Dior one. Full review will come after a few days of trying it!

  1. I think you’ve been using this wrong!!
i tried using it as a face WASH also, because the bottle says “cleanser” on it so i assumed thats how you would use it. I got the same results as you: the greasy film after washing off and none of my makeup came off. I was really disappointed too.
Then i tried using it on a cotton pad and WOAH!! it takes off my makeup SO WELL and its so gentle!! i used it on a cotton bud for my lashes, and it took my my most stubborn waterproof mascara and gel liner. its actually really good, but you just got to use it the right way!
They really should put instructions on the bottle, because the name is so misleading. Im going to ask the people at the Dior counter how to use this next time i go shopping just to make sure.

good luck and please give this product a try again!!

and thanks SOO much for posting this. I have been trying to find a review/post/blog entry/ANYTHING about this product and i couldnt find anything on the web where i could talk about this.
