Today I will be doing a quick review of my favourite sunscreen, and the only sunscreen I will allow to go near my face: the Za Power Block UV Sunscreen.
Za is a subsidiary of Shiseido and is only available in Asia. I am not a huge fan of most of their product line (especially their skincare line), but there are 2 products that they make that I am a loyal user. The first one is the True White 2-way foundation (which I will be reviewing at a later date), the other is this sunscreen.
Most sunscreens are oily and leave a greasy film on your skin, does not absorb and has that distinct sunscreen smell. However Za’s special formula, developed in Asia and tested on Asian skin, is completely different. It squeezes out to be an opaque white cream that looks thick, but once applied, this baby absorbs very quickly. Once it absorbs, that’s when the magic begins. This sunscreen actually matifies your skin, leaving a very powdery finish. Even though it starts out as opaque and scary white, it actually blends in very well with the skin, creating an more even skintone and somewhat milky finish.
This sunscreen has SPF 30+ and PA+++, which is very good suncreen protection, enough for outdoor sports or other types of prolonged stay in the sun. I use this for everyday wear though because I’m more paranoid about my skin getting sunspots or tanning that much.
I would recommend this sunscreen to every skin type, even oily skin. However remember to remove it at night with the proper makeup remover (ie. cleansing oil) or else, like all other sunscreens, it will clog pores and create congestion and breakouts.
This sunscreen is currently available only in Asia. I buy mine in China for $88 RMB for 50mL, but you can also buy it off Ebay. It is quite expensive for its size, but trust me, it is every bit worth it!
