Vasanti is a Canadian beauty brand that hopes to create light-weight, easy to use products for all women. Their products come in sheer colours for everyday wear, as well as bolder colours for more of a kick. Liquid Cover-Up is one of Vasanti’s most popular products. It is a concealer and foundation in one and touted to be fuller coverage while still looking natural. It claims:

Liquid Cover-Up is housed in a sleek plastic squeeze tube with a cap that removes to reveal a brush that comes out, kind of like a lip gloss. The packaging is nice and convenient for application but I really dislike the brush. I would have preferred just a squeeze tube as it is much more hygienic and easy to use, just squeeze out and blend. The colour I have is V2, which is light to medium for warmer skin tones, and a good match for my NC25-ish skin. It comes in twelve shades on its website, but it goes all the way up to V15, so I’d imagine they have 16 shades in total (plus v0, which is for super fair girls).
The consistency is very creamy but slightly on the dry side, which makes it a good consistency for concealer. It dries to be semi-matte and slightly tacky with a bit of transfer, so you will need to set it with powder.
As it is a concealer and foundation in one, I expected very full coverage. I was surprised to see that coverage, once blended out, is only medium, so you will still need a separate concealer. You can see that it doesn’t cover most of my freckles or imperfections, but it does do a good job at covering redness and my pores are smoothed out. My skin looks brighter and more even, but still natural. In addition, I love that this foundation does not oxidize. I swatched it on a piece of paper along with Guerlain Parure Extreme foundation. A day later, Guerlain Parure Extreme had become this brown blob, but Liquid Cover-Up was still the same shade as when it was fresh.
I find that it is easy to go overboard with this foundation. I applied this with a brush first, and then found it looking too much like a mask, so I blended it out with a sponge. The sponge helped remove some of the excess foundation and left me with a more natural finish. There is no SPF in it, so you will need to apply some sun protection before you use this. One interesting to note is that the next morning after wearing this, I woke up with a giant cystic pimple on my right cheek. I don’t know if it is because of this foundation, but people who are concerned should probably take it into consideration. Lastly, you don’t get very much product for the price. It costs $23 but you only get 16mL of product. That makes it around the same price as other high end foundations, such as Dior and Chanel.
This foundation is worth taking a look at the next time you’re at a Vasanti counter. The packaging may deter some people who are more concerned, but it is a good product overall. You can buy Vasanti at select Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, London Drugs, and online.
