Swatches: SUQQU Blend Color Eyeshadow in 12 Konruri 紺瑠璃 for Summer 2012

Posted by Sheila on May 11, 2012

Hi! Sorry for the long hiatus (again) but work has been quite hectic lately as there is much to learn and do. I’m here today with swatches of SUQQU’s newest Blend Color Eyeshadow in shade 12 Konruri 紺瑠璃 that is new and permanent for summer 2012. This shade is rumoured to replace the highly popular 01 Kakitsubata palette so if you are eyeing Kakitsubata, I recommend you run for your life to a SUQQU counter.

Konruri is in the 5-shade palette style that was released earlier this year. You can find more product photos of this palette as well as the rest of SUQQU’s new offerings here at Fishball’s Corner. Konruri will be on counter at Selfridges in the UK on May 24th.

I pulled these swatches off of Weibo (original post here) so unfortunately I can’t comment on the texture or wear, but the colours do look very wearable, as always with SUQQU palettes. But will I be getting one? Not sure yet, I’ve been trying to cut down on my makeup spendings as I have come to the realization that I have wayyyy too much stuff for my own good. But of course, I might still be tempted at the last minute and buy it, you never know ;)

Quick Mask Reviews: Astalift Moisturizing Mask, My Beloved One Melasleep Whitening Bio-Cellulose Mask, SUQQU Face Stretch Mask (very image heavy!)

Posted by Sheila on March 14, 2012

Some high end mask reviews for you! All of these have been fantastic, and while expensive, they were still cheaper than a facial (which they definitely were able to replicate and replace!). Thank you to Jamilla for letting me try the Astalift Moisturizing Mask and the SUQQU Face Stretch Mask!

Astalift Moisturizing Mask

  • Texture & fit: This mask came in two thick cotton cloth sheets – one for the forehead upper cheeks and nose, and one for the lower cheeks and chin. The texture of the sheets is very stretchy, which is perfect because you can stretch it upwards to get a tighter fit and to get more of a firming effect. The fit is AMAZING. Because there are no cuts in the sheets, every bit of the mask stuck to my face.
  • Serum/effect: The serum is a jelly orange substance that absorbs really well into the skin. There was enough serum in the two packs to moisturize my entire body.
  • Scent: Floral-fruity scent that is refreshing but also luxurious
  • Price: ¥6300 for 6 sheets, approximate $83CAD
  • Overall: I LOVE THIS MASK. Not only did it fit amazingly well, stayed on the entire time without much effort, the serum also absorbed quickly and it left my skin feeling super moisturized and supple. In the morning, I woke up with soft, radiant skin that would have been perfect as a canvas for make-up application. I definitely want to look into purchasing this mask but so far it is only available in Asia with very, very limited distribution.

Quick Skincare Reviews: SUQQU Repair Essence, Bounce Barrier Cream & Bounce Barrier Gel Cream

Posted by Sheila on January 24, 2012

I’m sorry for all of the SUQQU-madness on my blog. I am really in love with this brand so I keep talking about it. It’s no secret that the Blend Colour Eyeshadow in EX-04 Toukaede is my new favourite palette and I seem to have found a few more favourites among their skincare line as well.

SUQQU Repair Essence

  • Texture: Light translucent gel/viscous lotion
  • Scent: Subtle floral scent with a bit of alcohol peeking through
  • Effect: Absorbs instantly without residue, but isn’t hydrating on its own.
  • Price: £85.00 for 50mL
  • Overall: This is more of a “preparation” serum than a real hydrating serum. You’re supposed to use this as the first step of your skincare regime after cleansing, even more toner/lotion. The purpose of this step is to help the absorption and effects of all other skincare items you use after this. However, I didn’t really notice a difference in my skin with or without using this product. It is hydrating, but not hydrating enough to use on its own so I usually layer another hydrating serum on top of that, and then my moisturizer.

SUQQU Bounce Barrier Cream

  • Texture: Medium-thick cream (not greasy or heavy)
  • Scent: Subtle floral scent, very soothing
  • Effect: Absorbs instantly, very moisturizing but not at all greasy or heavy
  • Price: not sure, but I believe it is about £85.00 for 30mL (will confirm!)
  • Overall: I LOVE THIS CREAM!!! This is the perfect cream for wintertime as it is thick and hydrating while also protecting my skin from the wind, but it is never greasy or heavy. It absorbs very well and it leaves my skin feeling very plump and comfortable. I absolutely LOVE it. The only issue is that it is very, very expensive. I don’t know if I will purchase a full-size, maybe when Selfridges is doing their 10% off friends and family sale. This cream is great for those who have dry, normal to dry, or normal skin.

SUQQU Bounce Barrier Gel Cream

  • Texture: Thick gel-cream
  • Scent: Subtle floral scent, very soothing
  • Effect: Absorbs instantly and moisturizing, but much lighter than the Bounce Barrier Cream
  • Price: not sure, but I believe it is about £85.00 for 30mL (will confirm!)
  • Overall: This is a much lighter moisturizer compared to Bounce Barrier Cream, and as such, it is too light for me in the winter. This doesn’t provide much of a barrier against the cold as it absorbs completely into the skin. I feel this would be a better moisturizer for the summer, or for someone with combination or oily skin.

Holiday party FOTD with SUQQU Blend Colour Eyeshadow in EX-04 Toukaede 唐枫 and Chanel Teint Innocence cream compact

Posted by Sheila on December 27, 2011

The coveted SUQQU Blend Colour Eyeshadow in EX-04 Toukaede was Jamilla‘s Christmas present to me, as well as her personal favourite palette. Seeing as in my mind, she is the queen of makeup, whatever she loves must be crazy good. This palette did not disappoint one bit! It was my first time ever trying SUQQU colour cosmetics and I must say these palettes are one of the best eyeshadows I have ever tried! The texture is amazingly silky and smooth, it applies perfectly and blends seamlessly. The matte white shade in this palette is THE best matte shade I have used. I usually steer away from matte shades but SUQQU does it really well. Pigmentation is bold and beautiful as well in the dark plummy burgundy shade. The peach shimmer shade is subtler and not as pigmented but the shimmer is extremely smooth. The cream shimmer shade is more glittery, but it adheres very well with no fallout and it doesn’t look overdone at all.

If you don’t know anything about SUQQU, it is very much a cosmetics brand for the mature, professional, working woman, which is why the pigmentation is not “in your face,” rather it works beautifully for the office setting. I feel that the Toukaede palette reflects that brand image perfectly I can easily create a soft office look using any combination of these shades.

I did a quick look with this palette for my firm’s holiday party. I used the matte white as an all-over base for the rest of the eyeshadow, over UDPP. I used the shimmery cream shade in the inner corner of my eyes, as well as about 1/3 of the way into my eyelid. I used the peach shade on the outer 2/3 of my eyelid, overlapping a little bit with the shimmery cream. I used the plummy burgundy shade to line the outer 1/2 of my bottom lash line, as well as my entire upper lash line. I then took the shimmer peach again, and drew over the plummy burgundy. I lined my upper lash with a thin line of Dollywink Liquid Liner and used Clinique High Impact Mascara on my lashes.

On my cheeks, I used Chanel Joues Constraste in Rose Petale and highlighted using the Jill Stuart Puffy Marshmallow palette. On my lips, I am using Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 54 Boy.

My base makeup for the day was the Chanel Teint Innocence cream compact. As the party was going to held on Grouse Mountain at a higher altitude, I wanted to make sure my makeup stayed fresh even in the colder, drier climate. The Teint Innocence compact provided just enough moisture, coverage and staying power for all the eating, laughing and dancing.
