Posted by Sheila on March 8, 2012

Today is International Women’s Day and I received this press release from Lise Watier PR about how Lise Watier plans to celebrate:

Lise Watier Cosmétiques is proud to launch a virtual campaign for International Women’s Day. All ladies across Canada are invited to join the movement of solidarity for women by sending their best kiss in support of the Lise Watier Foundation.

To participate, women interested can subscribe online at fondation.lisewatier.com and upload a picture of their colorful kiss. For every kiss received, Lise Watier Cosmétiques is committed to make a $1 donation to the Lise Watier Foundation (up to $5000). The participants also get a chance to win one of 100 HAUTE COULEUR lip lacquers, the latest Lise Watier creation that guarantees a highly colorful kiss and an exceptional coverage! And that’s not all! A giant mosaic will be made with all the pictures received to build a great work of art for hope!

Participants who invite five friends to join A KISS FOR HOPE will receive a $2 discount on the purchase of ROSE TENDRESSE through the Online Lise Watier e-boutique. All revenues generated by this product’s sales will be donated to the Lise Watier Foundation.

From March 8th to April 8th, send your KISS FOR HOPE. Results for the HAUTE COULEUR lip Lacquers will be announced on April 12th, 2012.

Marcelle BB Cream… first Canadian-brand BB cream!!

Posted by Sheila on February 27, 2012

Me wearing the Marcelle BB cream (cheeks, nose and chin only, none on forehead) with Chanel Poudre Universelle to set, and Shu Uemura Dome Blusher in Sunlight Peach and Chanel Joues Constraste in Espiegle on cheeks

I am super excited to be reviewing this product for you. As you know, I am a huge fan of Marcelle products (especially their Hydra-C Energizing Hydrating Gel) and I am just so excited that they are releasing a BB cream to the Canadian market: a first for a Canadian brand!

About the Marcelle BB Cream

If you don’t know what BB Creams are, then you’re in for a treat. BB Cream, or Beauty Balm (or blemish balm, or beauty base, or beblesh balm… etc, you get the point) are an uber popular base makeup product in Asia. Basically it is an all-in-one product that contains moisturizing, anti-aging, brightening, coverage and sun protection properties in one single product. You can wear this either by itself, or as a base for your foundation. Specifically, Marcelle BB Cream is available in two shades (yay!!) and features an ultra-lightweight formula leaves skin with “nothing on” feel. It is also oil free, non comedogenic, paraben free, dermatologist tested, hypo-allergenic, perfume free and is contained in an ultra-hygienic airless tube-pump. This product is suitable for any skin type. Some of the key ingredients in the Marcelle BB Cream include: Hyaluronic Acid (Improves skin elasticity, helps minimize wrinkles, hydrates); Aquaxyl (Moisturizes and helps correct imperfections); Glycerin (Hydrates); Vitamin E (Antioxidant to protect skin); Aloe Vera (Soothes & hydrates); Green Tea & Chamomile (Stimulates, reinvigorates & soothes) and Soft Focus Powders (Light-reflecting, enhance complexion).

My thoughts

I absolutely LOVE this BB cream. Even though it isn’t a true BB cream because it doesn’t have any sun protection (which is actually a major feature and benefit of the traditional BB cream). The texture is light and creamy but provides sheer to medium coverage which helps to cover any redness and my pores, as well as smooth out my skin tone. My skin is luminous and even without looking like I’m wearing any base makeup. It is also very hydrating and works well for my dehydrated Canadian winter skin.

The light shade is perfect for my NC20-25 skin tone. The finish is semi-dewy so it might be good to set it lightly with some powder, but even though it is dewy it lasts all day. I also found very minimal transfer from my skin to my glasses rim whenever I do wear glasses, which is something that is important to me (not like Jill Stuart foundation which completely transfers onto my glasses rim!). To put it simply, my skin looks flawless and luminous when wearing the Marcelle BB cream.

I definitely recommend the Marcelle BB cream if you are looking for a good base makeup product that provides natural coverage with a natural finish and also skincare properties. If you have anywhere between dry to combination skin, this product will be good for you. If you have really oily skin, you might either need an oil controlling primer, oil controlling powder or to touch up your base makeup every few hours because this product doesn’t have much oil control (but that isn’t what it’s supposed to be for anyways).

This product is already available in store wherever Marcelle is sold, priced at $22.95.

After 8 hours of wear, my skin still looks flawless!

Nail Polish Canada Adopt A Polish program!

Posted by Sheila on November 5, 2011

This is super cool! I received news about Adopt A Polish, an initiative set up by the people over at Nail Polish Canada. Basically you “adopt” certain colours of nail polish by applying to the adoption agency and writing why you think you’ll be the best parents for that colour. In other words… WHO WANTS FREE POLISH? If you win the right to adopt, all polishes will be shipped out free of charge from Nail Polish Canada.

Here is more information from their press release:

WORLD’S FIRST NAIL POLISH ADOPTION AGENCY: PARENTS NEEDED

Adoptapolish.org announces the world’s first adoption drive for in need nail polish, available for U.S. and Canadian applicants. Every day, thousands of nail polishes are abandoned or abused. They are not sticky or old, they are fine new polishes, stuck on a shelf because they are forgotten or out of season. All they desire is to be used, and maybe taken for a night on the town in return.

“We have so many polishes who need a good family to take them in” said AdoptAPolish.org executive director Nikki Smith. “All it takes is filling out an application form describing how you can provide a better life for one of our in need nail polishes. We select the best application and take care of all the expenses, delivering your newly adopted polish directly to your door.”

One current nail polish, Charleston, held back tears well describing his life, “I spent two years of my life stacked in a dark room crammed together with thousands of others just like me, hundreds pressing down on my shoulders at any given time. I’m a shimmer and I have never seen sunlight in my life. Oh and don’t get me started on CND Shellac, I just can’t keep going as long, why would any women want me” he continued. Please don’t let the agony go on any longer than it has to. The first round of adoptions closes December 15th. Apply to Adopt a Polish at http://www.adoptapolish.org/category/currentadoptions/

About Adopt a Polish

Adoptapolish.org is a not-for-profit organization funded by the people at Nail Polish Canada. We are grateful they’ve spent the time and money to set us up, but we know they only did it to look like charitable people. They are jerks! All they care about is selling you things. This entire organization was set-up by them to manipulate you.

Don’t worry about us being influenced by them, we cash their cheque, move on with our lives, and get back to saving lives. We would never compromise out ethics by telling you to shop now at http://www.NailPolishCanada.com and take advantage of free shipping over $29.

The people at Nail Polish Canada are absolute geniuses! You can read up on how to “take care” of your newly adopted nail polish here. Things like “Safety and security: These polishes have spent their lives in fear, so please help them feel safe and secure by using a top coat and a base coat.” GENIUSES, I tell you.

Enjoy =)
