Sorry for being MIA yesterday. I didn’t sleep the night before, and so I pretty much collapsed on my bed the moment I got home from school yesterday, and slept until 1 this afternoon. Yes I slept for 20 hours. Anyways today, I will be reviewing the Jill Stuart Smooth Silk Powder Foundation. I received a sample of this a few weeks ago when I bought some stuff from a Taiwanese website that sold Asian cosmetics. The sample size is 2g, which should last me a long time.
My first impressions of this powder foundation is that it is finely milled, and very silky. The powder that I am comparing it to is any Chanel powder, which are known for being very finely milled. The powder in this Jill Stuart foundation is even more fine and light. Because of this, I find that the powder adheres very well to my skin, and basically melts into it. After I apply it, I run my finger across my skin and there is no leftover powder on my finger, which I really like.
As for the coverage, I find that it is very light, but it does cover pores quite well. My freckles did not get covered though, which was something that bothered me somewhat because my freckles aren’t even THAT dark, so it obviously won’t cover my scars. Also, it offers pretty good oil control, and is not drying or cakey. I feel that this would be a good base for when you want to look more natural versus done up. And with all Jill Stuart cosmetics, there is a very faint floral fragrance, which I really like, but someone who dislikes scented cosmetics would not be too fond of it.
There is not a lot of shade selection, five, to be exact. The colour that I received is 103 nude, which is a close-enough match to my skin, but I find that it is a little bit yellow.
Would I buy this? Probably not, because I already have my
Chanel White Essentiel powder foundation that has the same effect but will last me a long time. But if you are looking for something that has light to medium coverage, this is a good choice for you. Also, because of the good oil control, I might consider getting this to use as a powder to set my liquid foundation rather than a powder foundation.
This is available for purchase at all locations that sell Jill Stuart, or online at Good Dealer, Bonbon Cosmetics and Imomoko.
