Today, I will be doing a review of one of the products in Pond’s newest whitening skincare line. The Visible Lightening Daily UV Cream from the Flawless White line is a day cream that has SPF 15 and PA++. Many Asians are interested in this product due to Niuer’s review on Queen (a Taiwanese tv show that focuses on beauty products, makeup, clothing and accessories).
From first look, it is very luxurious, set in a beautiful glass tub with a pink lid. However, once you start to use it, it is completely different story.
First of all, the container is very hard to open. From that, I mean VERY hard to open. You need to have completely dry hands, and maybe even use a towel to prevent the container from slipping, falling and breaking. That is a huge loss of points for this product because it is very difficult to use, and after a while, people just stop wanting to go through all of that trouble.
If you do end up getting the container open, though, the scent is really nice. The scent is one of the plusses I would give Pond’s because it is quite relaxing and makes you think that you’re using a spa product. For some people, the scent may be overpowering because it does linger around for a while.
The cream is a light pink colour and it looks very light. So light, it almost looks like a richer emulsion or lotion. When you spread it on your face, it blends very easily and you only need very little product. When its on your face, your skin looks translucent and bright due to the pink tint of the cream, but not for long…
Now, here comes the down side. The cream does NOT absorb into your skin. Its almost like your rubbed yourself with Vaseline because it just refuses to sink in. It turns into a very greasy film on top of your skin after. After a while of being outside in the cold Kingston weather, you start to notice that the greasy film is no longer there, but it makes you wonder if it actually absorbed, or it just dried out because it is so cold and windy. It also offers no hydrating power whatsoever, due to the fact that it does not absorb. As for the whitening/lightening effects, I have not seen any after a few weeks of using the product.
Of course, I would NOT recommend anyone use this item. Personally, I believe that Niuer only promoted it on Queen because Pond’s sponsored some advertisements on their site and I guess they’re obligated to promote it? Anyways, it is a horrible thing to use on your skin. The only thing I can think of using it for is maybe to go skiing, as the greasiness of it prevents your skin from cracking in the cold wind.
I believe I purchased this item on Sasa for $12, but for that price, I would rather go buy some Vaseline.
