EOTD & Tutorial with Lunasol Nature Summer Blue EX01 Palette

Posted by Sheila on November 2, 2010

Thank you for your patience, I know a lot of you requested EOTDs with this palette, so here it is =)

I used the shimmery aqua shade as an all-over wash on top of my UDPP with my MAC 239 brush. I wanted to go for a gradiant effect with the aqua blue shade and the navy shade, so I then used my MAC 226 brush and starting from the outside corner, sweeped inwards towards the inner corner. This ensured that there was more of a concentration of colour in the outer corner and slowly faded away to become the aqua blue. Because I used a fluffy brush, I had to layer a couple of times in order to get the effect I wanted.

On my lower lid, I used the shimmery yellow-gold on my inner corner and the inner half of the lower lid, including the tearducts. I used the navy blue on the outer half of the lower lid, and I used the aqua blue shade in the very middle to blend the two shades together. I didn’t highlight my browbone this time, but I would use the shimmery white shade to do it (applied with a MAC 226 brush).

I finished off my curling my lashes, lining the top lid with MAC Penultimate Eyeliner in Rapidblack and coating my lashes with Anna Sui Long mascara.

To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of this palette. The colour is beautiful, but you really need to put a lot of effort into making it look pigmented enough. Also there is quite a bit of fallout, which can be avoided with a base, but when you’re layering the shadows, it can get very powdery and the glitters just fall all over the place. I’m sure there are dupes of the palette out there somewhere, so if you like the colour combination, you don’t necessarily have to look specifically for this palette.

Jill Stuart and Lunasol Holiday Coffrets + CP info (with links)

Posted by Sheila on October 30, 2010

Hiya! Here is some information about the Jill Stuart and Lunasol holiday coffrets, usually two of the most popular sets during the holiday season. I’ve also included links to blogs that have real-life photos and swatches.

Jill Stuart Holiday

This one is usually one of the most popular holiday coffrets. If you think you may want it, you should act FAST because I know it sells out within HOURS in Japan. They release a point makeup coffret and a bath & body set every year. This year the point makeup coffret is called “Secret Tease” and will be released in Hong Kong on November 1st. It comes with a full size Blush Blossom, full size Jelly Eye Colour, a mini Jelly Lip Colour, false lashes, a perfumed puff and pouch.

You can see real life photos of the Jill Stuart Secret Tease collection on this blog as well as on Makeup and Life (including swatches).

If you want to order the Jill Stuart Secret Tease Coffret. My friend Jennifer from Life and Lens of Beauty and Lisa from Makeup and Life are both offering CP services for the coffret. Please check out their respective blogs.

Lunasol Holiday

Lunasol usually comes out with their usual seasonal release of makeup plus an additional coffret. The holiday coffret this year is especially awesome because it comes with a full size eyeshadow palette and a full size blush, along with mascara, lipgloss and pouch.

What’s on my wishlist? I think just the Jill Stuart set. I wasn’t planning on getting it originally because I’m not a fan of loose products, especially one that is not in a big container that prevents spilling (this one is just in a compact… disaster waiting to happen?). But after seeing more photos and swatches from Lisa, the details just completely won me over. Did I mention I love anything lace? Well I love anything lace, and this collection is very lace-y, so I will be getting it. Don’t you just love my logic ^___~

Swatches of Lunasol Nature Summer Blue EX01 palette

Posted by Sheila on October 19, 2010

I know this is late and I know I said I won’t be doing swatches, but I got bored today XD

Shades (from top left in clockwise direction) are a very sheer, white iridescent, shimmery aqua blue, sheer gold, and shimmery navy. The first and third shades are very sheer, and the shimmery aqua blue is sheerer than I imagined (especially when compared to other eyeshadows with similar colouring). However the navy blue is a gorgeous colour and definitely my favourite of the four. It didn’t require any effort to swatch and you get rich, intense pigmentation with just one swipe.

Swatches:

This probably won’t be too helpful for you, but at least you get to look at the pretty colours!

FOTD with MAC Venomous Villains Bite of an Apple Blush

Posted by Sheila on October 17, 2010

So I took these photos before I realized I had forgotten to put on lip gloss (I had planned to do a full VV face that day, so my gloss of choice was of course, Strange Potion). But by the time I realized, I was already running late so I quickly swiped on some gloss and ran for it.

And yes my eyes look a little swollen, I haven’t been sleeping well lately.

Face:

  • Jill Stuart Moist Silk Powder Foundation – Foundation and base
  • MAC Oh So Fair beauty powder (Venomous Villains Collection) – all-over powder

Eyes:

  • Lunasol Skin Modelling Eyes in 01 Beige Beige
  • Anna Sui Lengthening mascara

Cheeks:

  • MAC Bite of an Apple Blush (Venomous Villains Collection) – on apples of cheeks then sweeped up

Bite of an Apple Blush is VERY pigmented. I mean it when I say a little goes a long way. When I swatched it on my arm for the first time, it didn’t seem that bad, but when I applied it with a regular blush brush, it really made my cheeks look red. The flash in my camera definitely washed out some of the colour in the picture, but I would still recommend using a duo fibre brush.

One thing I did notice though, if it is used sparingly and blended out, it looks very much like my natural cheek colour when I blush. Apparently that is the colour that is most flattering to you, so I guess I should be thankful I grabbed this before it sold out everywhere…

(Late also) Lunasol Summer Collection purchases

Posted by Sheila on October 7, 2010

Yes another late summer post. I caved and bought the Lunasol Nature Summer Blue EX01 palette even though I said I passed when I saw it first in HK and China. Well, its not really my fault people like Macnunu, Jess and Fuz keep raving about it.

Lunasol Nature Summer Blue EX01

Full Glamour Lips G in EX02 and Full Glamour Gloss in EX13

Full Glamour Lips G EX02 is a coral-beige lipstick with a cream finish. Full Glamour Gloss EX13 is not mine (its for my dearest Macnunu), but from what I can see in the tube, its an orange-coral gloss with tons of shimmer.

Gorgeous colours for the summer, I guess I’ll just have to wait until next summer to wear them.
