Mini Review: Freshlook Colourblends in Amethyst

Posted by Sheila on February 8, 2011

I have naturally dark brown eyes and sometimes when I want to create a more dramatic look, I wear coloured contacts. Freshlook Colourblends are my favourite contact lens brand and type. Out of the few I’ve tried (Freshlook Colourblends, Freshlook Colour Opaque, GEO Angel Colour, GEO Nudy), Freshlook Colourblends provides the most natural coloured contacts. It comes in a variety of colours and they are very comfortable to wear; my eyes rarely get dry when wearing them even after a 7-8 hour day. The colour I wear most of the time is Amethyst because there is a slight hint of purple in my eye colour but it makes my eyes look less tired and more “watery.”

Here are some eye charts in different lighting; the first is of my natural eye colour, the second is of me wearing Amethyst with no makeup and the third is of me wearing Amethyst with makeup.

As you can see the effect isn’t very dramatic, but it still makes my eyes look bigger and brighter. I also found Amethyst matches best with most of the makeup that I wear, which is convenient because I don’t have to choose a specific contacts colour depending on my makeup of the day.

With all contact lenses, you NEED to talk to your optometrist to see if the brand/product is right for you. I buy my contacts from Clearly Contacts (they do price match, and Coastal Contacts is a lot cheaper so you can price match with them even though they’re the same company). You can also see more eye charts here. I just recently ordered more boxes of Amethyst as well as Turquoise and Pure Hazel.

Super simple FOTD: for lazy days or days you spend bundled up in the library

Posted by Sheila on October 25, 2009

I’m at the library today, got 2 group meetings and trying to get some reading done for next week’s classes. Here is a simple FOTD that you can do in probably 3 minutes flat.

Products used:

  • Complexion: Chanel White Essentiel Base and Chanel White Essentiel Powder Foundation
  • Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion and Anna Sui Eye Accent in #302
  • Lashes: Diorshow Iconic and Clarins Double Fix’ Mascara
  • Brows: Light brown eyeshadow from a Chanel travel palette
  • Lips: Anna Sui Lip Gloss in #300 (super nude, love this colour!)
  • Contacts: Freshlook Opaque in Blue (don’t like this one very much, the colour looks weird)

Alice from Holt Renfrew Dior has notified me that my Dior Holiday 2009 order has been shipped out! I should be receiving in sometime next week. I ordered the Cristal Boreal necklace and the Vernis in Silver Purple. I’ll take some live pictures and do some swatches when I get it. I can’t wait!

By the way, thank you to everyone who voted in my poll. The majority of you said that you wanted to see me do more reviews, followed by write more about my life and introduce new products. I’ll definitely try to incorporate your opinions into my posts. Thanks again for your feedback!

FOTD and new product purchases

Posted by Sheila on October 20, 2009

Even though the Sephora F&F sale did not apply to Canada, I still ended up buying a few things with another friend to make up the $120. I bought 3 of these palettes as Christmas gifts. I love Too Faced Shadow Insurance, so I have some faith in their product, so when I saw this, it was instant love. The Too Faced Decade of Glamour Beauty Wardrobe Makeup Collection is housed inside a box that resembles a wardrobe. The packaging is so adorable and the value is really good. The entire box has the value of $195, but is priced at less than $30. You can get it at Sephora.

I also bought Sephora by OPI nail polish in Opening Night, which is a dark navy blue with sparkles (love!).

Anyways, this is my first FOTD. I always forget to take pictures of my looks, so whenever I do… I get lazy and don’t post them up.

Products used:

  • Complexion: BRTC Gold Caviar BB Cream
  • Eyeshadow, brows and liner: Dior Jazz Club palette in Purple Jazz (read my review here)
  • Liner: Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Ink
  • Blush: Dior Shimmer Star in Pop Diamond
  • Mascara: Diorshow Iconic
  • Contacts: Freshlook Colorblends in Amethyst

I think that day, I forgot to put on lipgloss. I guess its okay though, because I’m always really paranoid about eating too much lip product…
