NOTD: Gradation nails with OPI Passion & Coffret D’or RS-94

I tried to be a little more creative this week and do gradation nails instead of just the normal two coats of polish. I used one coat OPI Passion, which is a sheer pink, as my base. The gradation colour I used was Coffret D’or RS-94, which is a glittery dark rose shade. I also used the Dior Top Coat as my quick-dry top coat, and then a coat of OPI Top Coat for a more glossy effect. The end result kind of came out weird, maybe because I’ve never done this before. Will try this again next time.

You likey? I might try a blue gradation next week just because it is summer…

FOTD + OOTD for CityTV x eBeauty.ca event… green all over!

I did a smokey green and gold look to match my green dress and gold accessories for the CityTV x eBeauty.ca event.

On my eyes, I used:

• Estee Lauder Pure Colour Five Colour Eyeshadow in Extravagant Gold (light beige as highlight and gold as base and to pat over the green for extra glow)
• Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Regard Perle (dark green shade as crease colour and layered gold near the lash line to create dimension)
• Coffret D’or Trance Deep Eyes in 03 Khaki-Green Variation (dark green as the “smoke” colour)
• UDPP
• Dollywink Liquid Liner
• Majolica Majorca Mascara Base
• Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara
• MAC #41 Lashes

On my cheeks, I used Jill Stuart Mix Blush compact in 07 Lovely Tulip as blush, and 101 Puffy Marshmallow to highlight.On my lips, I used Chanel Rouge Coco in 13 Gardenia.

My eyebrows were shaded in with MAC’s eyebrow pencil in Taupe. Nails were done using Dior Vernis in Timeless Gold. Base makeup was all Chanel: Vitalumiere Aqua in B20 and Poudre Universelle Libre in 20.

My outfit for the night was a green dress with paisley print by Anna Sui. My belt was especially purchased for the occasion, a gift from one of my good friends Stephanie, from BCBG. My shoes (not shown) were from Dior.

Spring-y FOTD with Coffret D’or Trance Deep Eyes in 03 Khaki Variation

It was super nice out last week so I did a FOTD with some spring colours. I used Jill Stuart Makeup Base N as primer and then Jill Stuart Moist Silk Compact Foundation for a light base.

On my eyes, I used Coffret D’or’s Trance Deep Eyes in 03 Khaki Variation, which is a green-themed palette. I used the shimmery beige on the bottom left hand corner as my all over colour, and then applied the light green to the outer half of my lid. I lined the top and bottom lash line with the dark green, and highlighted with the white. I then lined my upper lashline with Dollywink Liquid Liner (officially my favourite liquid liner!).

On my cheeks, I used the peachy Chanel Joues Contraste in Espiegle and applied Dior Addict Lipstick in Diorissime on my lips.

Swatches: Coffret D’or NEW Spring 2011 (link)

Coffret D’or recently revamped their entire line of cosmetics aimed at women ages 30+, including new packaging, new formulas, new everything. This is somewhat of a good thing because I was quite disappointed with most of the Coffret D’or stuff that I’ve tried in the past with the exception of one thing. The new line includes eyeshadow quads, eyeshadow duos, mascara, lipsticks and an uber cute blush palette. Yuki’s Lazy Channel has all of the swatches here.

My thoughts:

The lipsticks look promising, but I am still disappointed in the eyeshadow, especially the quads. The quality is somewhat inconsistent as some of them look very smooth and pigmented while others look sheer with lots of glitter (eg. #03 Clear Silver). Of course the variations are what you’d expect from a Japanese cosmetics company. The blushers look cute, but personally I’m not a fan of multi-coloured blush palettes, so I will probably skip. The likely thing is I will probably skip the entire collection.

NOTD: Coffret D’or Jewelight Nail Colour in RS-94

This is the second of the Coffret D’or Jewelight Nail Colours I purchased in Beijing, the other being BU-28. RS-94 is another glittery shade, a mauve/light magenta with silver glitters. This applies relatively sheerly, with three coats to get the opacity as shown in the photo. It also dries a little less smoothly than the BU-28, and would do better with a glossy top coat. Drying time is relatively fast and is also long-wearing.

I really like this shade for that pop of colour, but is not overwhelming or hard to pair with clothes. I think after trying out two shades from the Coffret D’or nail polish line, I’m interested in trying more! And that is definitely a good thing.
