Random Post: Chanel, Benefit, Guerlain & Soulstice Spa

Posted by Sheila on October 8, 2011

I fail at staying away, don’t I? Yup, I’m back at blogging regularly, just less regularly than before. Here a random post for you today, just for the sake of it.

Thank you C for the birthday present!!

Benefit was being cleared away from Holt Renfrew last month and J helped me grab a Finding Mr. Bright set.

I know I’m one year late on this, but I missed out last year due to my indecisively. I finally found it on Strawberrynet after months of waiting for it to show up. I got a pretty good deal on it too =)

And Soulstice Spa is the newest nail polish range to hit Nail Polish Canada, a Vancouver-based Canadian website that sells nail polish and other nail care products. They carry some very hard-to-find products in Canada, such as Zoya (yes they have the remover!), SpaRitual and Soulstice Spa, a range of vegan nail polish.

FOTD with UD Alice in Wonderland, Benefit Lady’s Choice + YSL Golden Gloss 20

Posted by Sheila on May 6, 2010

I got back from Hainan last week with a heat rash on my face so I had been trying to lay off the makeup for a while. But after a week of light skincare and using up the rest of my Gel de la Mer sample, my skin is finally almost sort-of back to normal.

There was a Hong Kong products exhibition in Fuzhou over the weekend and my aunt took my cousin and I to go check it out. There were a lot of products from HK that they were selling over 4 floors, including clothes, accessories, skincare products, jewelry, watches and even food. We bought some random snacks for me to eat when I study for the LSATs, aka bored. Anyways, here is the FOTD I did when I went to check out the event.

On my face, I used:
- Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream in No. 23
- MAC Mineralize Blush (Duo) in Two Virtues

On my eyes, I used:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Urban Decay Book of Shadows in Alice in Wonderland (colours marked below)
- Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Ink
- Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara
- Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Honey

On my lips, I used:
- Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in Lady’s Choice
- YSL Golden Gloss in 20 Golden Macademia

UD Alice in Wonderland colours used:

As usual, lets end off with a silly photo!

P.S. Please excuse the PJs. It was getting dark soon, as we were going to the exhibition at dusk since it was so hot during the day. I wanted to get pictures in natural light as opposed to synthetic flash lighting, so I took pictures before I changed into my outfit =)

FOTD – First day back in China!

Posted by Sheila on April 14, 2010

Its only my first day back in China and I’ve already gotten VPN and all that stuff sorted out, which means… I can blog!

Today’s FOTD is for a dinner with a childhood friend of mine. Its easy to do but still looks sharp.

Eyes: Paul & Joe Eye Gloss N in 04 (Thanks to Jess!), Guerlain Ombre Eclat in 407 Bal de Minuit, Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Ink, Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara in Black and Anna Sui Super Long Mascara in Black.

Lips: Chanel Rouge Coco in 13 Gardenia and Chanel Aqualumiere Gloss in 68 Candy Glow.

I’m totally digging Chanel Rouge Coco in Gardenia. It is creamy but not over the top and won’t accentuate any lip lines (unlike YSL Rouge Volupte, which I can’t really stand…). There is a slight frosty sheen, but it still looks sophisticated enough to be wearing at the office. I love this colour, thanks to Jess for helping me choose it out! Its like a perfect “my lips but better” lip colour.

FOTD with Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation *loves*

Posted by Sheila on March 22, 2010

If you’ve been following me on Twitter then you’ll know that I’ve been raving about the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. Here is just a very simple FOTD with that foundation, a full review will be coming later. Here is just a super simple FOTD that I did in about 5 minutes. I know I look really tired… but that is because I didn’t get any shut-eye the night before and I’m also not wearing any concealer. Pictures were shot in natural lighting.

Face:

  • Paul & Joe Protective Foundation Primer
  • Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation in shade 53
  • Diorblush in 859 Vintage Rose

Eyes:

Lips:

  • Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in 77 Santal
This is what my makeup looked like after 13 hours of continuous wear. The foundation held up pretty well; even though my face looked, and was shiny after 13 hours of no blotting, it still looks pretty radiant.
FYI, I’m wearing the Alice in Wonderland necklace from Steph at Julu Jewelry. This is probably the most comfortable piece of jewelry I own, I love the chain and the pendants aren’t heavy so I can barely feel it around me neck. That’s pretty awesome considering I don’t usually like wearing any type of jewelry (although I do like to collect it… haha)
Below, the pictures were shot with flash.
Pore coverage has slipped a little, but thats to be expected. I didn’t touch up at all during the day.
Even though I used UDPP underneath the Benefit Creaseless Cream eyeshadow, it still creased on me… *sigh*

Swatch: Benefit Full-finish lipstick in Lady’s Choice

Posted by Sheila on March 15, 2010

I purchased this lipstick on my last duty free trip on the way to Barcelona. It has slowly become one of my newest fave nudes. Benefit Full-finish lipstick is a line of very pigmented, very creamy lipsticks. Full-finish is a really accurate description for this lipstick because one coat and you’re good to go; it covers like a dream.

Comparing this to MAC Myself lipstick, Lady’s Choice is a little less yellow and looks a little less deathly when worn alone. It also has a bit more mauve tints in it and looks more natural. This would look amazing as a day lipstick just to the office as Myself might be a little too nude.

Here is a shot of me wearing it without flash. See how that just tones down my lip colour perfectly?

Overall I think this would be a good lipstick to add to your collection, even if you aren’t that into nudes. Its perfect for everyday wear and can be wiped off and replaced with a darker lipstick for a simple, easy night look.
Do you like it?

Here is a little food porn for all of you food lovers out there. I had this at Asadal in London on Saturday when I was there for my field study. Thank you to Yinnie for introducing me to that restaurant because so far I really love it, not to mention it is in such a convenient location (right next to Holborn tube station!). I forgot what this dish is called, but its basically slices of pork stewed with kimchi and tofu. It was really good, but the rice portion was too small so I ordered another bowl of rice.

Oh and I’m really sorry if I’m not going to be updating as much these two weeks. Its essay season again and I’m just trying very hard to keep up with all of the ones I have due. I have three this week, two 3000 word essays and one 1000 word. I’m probably going to be okay though, because its not like something like this has never happened before. University is stressful, even here in the beautiful countryside of England.
